Gus Labayen

Gus Labayen serves as a Grassroots Storyteller and Social Media Curator for Parish Collective. He is also an Area Connector for Parish Collective Tacoma. Since moving into the Tacoma Catholic Worker’s Guadalupe House in 2015, Gus has become a ‘discerning anarchist’. His main roles in the community are organizing house dinners and overseeing the social media for the TCW Facebook (@GuadHouse). Gus is in current 2017-2018 year’s cohort of the Leadership in the New Parish at The Seattle School in Belltown. He is a contact for the justice work at the TCW, mainly as facilitator for the Tacoma Justice Café, a branch of the Intercommunity Peace & Justice Center. Gus strives to activate young adults and peers in mentorship and valuing the intergenerational wisdom of elders. He is also a long time church musician and enjoys a wide array of liturgical expressions, from chant, Taizé, to leading in contemporary worship.
